How we test

No brand knows we are coming

Every product on this site was bought the same way you would buy it. No sample kits, no press packages, no advance warning. Here is the whole process, start to finish.

We buy blind

We order at retail, anonymously, using ordinary customer accounts and ordinary payment. Brands do not know which of their products we have, which lot we got, or when we bought it. That matters more than it sounds. A sample sent to us by a brand is a sample the brand chose, and a brand that knows a test is coming has every reason to send its best batch.

We log everything that arrives, including the things that are easy to overlook. What the packaging claims, what the label says the dose is, batch or lot numbers where they exist, the condition it turned up in, and how it was shipped.

Accredited labs do the analysis

We do not run assays ourselves. Samples go to independent third party laboratories with the accreditation to do this work, and the lab has no relationship with the brand being tested. We pay the lab. The brand does not, and could not.

Three questions get answered for every sample.

Potency

How much psilocybin and psilocin is actually in the product, measured per unit, so it can be compared against what the label promises.

Purity

Whether anything is present that should not be, including heavy metals, pesticides, and microbial contamination.

Label accuracy

Whether the product in the capsule matches the product described on the box, including the species and the stated dose.

Consistency matters as much as strength

A single capsule tells you very little. Two capsules from the same jar can differ enormously if a brand is mixing by hand, and a product that averages the right dose while swinging wildly between capsules is a worse product than one that is slightly under and always the same. We test multiple units from the same lot so that variation shows up rather than getting averaged away.

We publish everything

Every result goes up in full, the passes and the failures, with the underlying lab data attached. A brand cannot buy a score, remove one, delay one, or negotiate the wording. We tell brands what we found at the same time we tell you.

What a failure means. A failed result is a statement about one tested lot, not a verdict on a company forever. Manufacturing changes. We say which lot, when we bought it, and what the number was, and we will retest.

When we get it wrong

Labs make mistakes, and so do we. If a brand believes a result is wrong, they can say so and we will look. If we made an error we correct it in public, on the same page, with a note explaining what changed and why. We do not quietly edit a number and move on.
