Independent lab testing, Canada and the United States
We test every brand so you can find the good ones
There are hundreds of psilocybin brands and almost no real data on any of them. So we buy the products ourselves, off the shelf, the same way you would. Accredited labs test them, and we publish whatever comes back, good or bad.
We sell nothing. No brand pays for a score, and none of them know we are coming.
Verified brands
Every brand we are working through
We buy each one anonymously and test it for potency, purity, and whether the label matches what is in the capsule. Results go up here as the labs return them, including the lots that failed.
More brands are in our review queue. We publish each result as it is verified, including the ones that do not pass.

No brand knows we are coming
The method is deliberately boring, because boring is what makes a result worth reading. It never changes to suit a brand.
We buy blind
Products are purchased anonymously at retail, the same way anyone else would buy them. No samples, no advance notice, no relationship with the seller.
Accredited labs test
Independent labs in Canada and the United States measure psilocybin content, screen for contaminants, and check the label against what is actually in the product.
We publish everything
Every result goes up in full, the passes and the failures, with the raw lab data attached. A brand cannot buy a score, remove one, or delay one.
Who does the testing
The person who opens every box
Megan Platt runs our hands on testing. She is a student at the University of Michigan who came to this work because she believes in what psilocybin can do for people, and she wanted to be the one making sure what reaches them has actually been checked.
She buys the products, logs what arrives, sends the samples out, and turns what the lab returns into something a person can read without a chemistry degree. If a result on this site looks careful, that is her.
Our methods are guided by two tenured mycology professors at major American universities, with decades of peer reviewed work in fungal evolution, genetics, and ecology between them. They have asked us not to publish their names and we respect that completely. Psilocybin research still carries real professional risk. Neither holds a stake in any brand we review, and neither is paid based on what our tests conclude.

Field notes
Research you can actually read
Plain language write ups of what we found, what it means, and where the evidence still runs thin. Written for people making a decision, not for a journal.
The dose on the label and the dose in the capsule
Across 214 products, the label was right more often than we expected, and wrong in ways that matter.
SafetyA field guide to trusting this field
How to read a lab report, what a certificate of analysis does not tell you, and the questions worth asking first.
EvidencePsychedelic optimism, meet peer review
What the clinical literature supports today, what it does not, and how far ahead of the science the marketing has run.
For brands
Earn the Mycelia Verified seal
If your product is what your label says it is, the testing will show it. Brands that pass may display the seal for twelve months, per product lot.
- Potency measured against label claim across three production lots
- Full contaminant screening at an accredited lab
- Ingredient panel and labeling accuracy reviewed
- Results published in full, whatever they say
